Return to Japan 2001
After all the crazy of Thailand, I was ready to come back to Japan. I had also not seen my then-girlfriend Melissa since leaving Japan four months earlier. So overall it was really nice to come back to Japan - and all the amazing nature I saw while I was back didn't hurt, either! The three airport photos below are of Kansai International, I believe. I quite enjoyed the architecture of the Japanese airports, and I didn't really have any photos, so I figured while I was killing time, I'd take a few pictures.
The first weekend I was back, I visited Aso to attend a Christian retreat up in the mountains. I also visited Fukuoka, which was having its Christmas craziness.
I ran into trouble with one of the other people I work with in Japan when I posted a photo of them flipping me the bird. Some people just object to that sort of thing being online. I have a strong hunch Melissa would be one of those people, so I've removed the offending shot. But it was good - trust me!
I knew of Tsushima from the battle that happened off the coast, but I didn't know much of anything else. Since we had a weekend, we booked one of the traditional Japanese crazy fast holidays that came with car, hotel, flight, the whole thing. As I recall, there weren't very many people on the plane. It was a truly amazing weekend - Tsushima was amazing. It's a long island, and we drove pretty much the whole thing. Fun and crazy!
