Denmark

The next (rainy) day was devoted primarily to wandering in Copenhagen and to visiting the National Museum, which has a wonderful selection of, as I like to call it, 'viking stuff'.

While staying in Copenhagen, we took some time out of our busy sightseeing schedule to help my friend Trine (with whom we were staying) move into her new house. We had ulterior motives for helping, it must be noted, as we still needed a place to stay. Thus on Saturday morning we woke bright and early and, along with several of her friends, moved all her stuff into her new apartment, located somewhat further outside of town (though thankfully still within easy public transport distance). So the photo of the truck (above) and the photo of the box-filled room (below) relate to this little pause.

We went up to Helsingør to visit Kronborg castle, and to see one of the Hamlet Summer productions. In this case, it was a version of Hamlet put on by a chinese opera company, and though it was in Chinese with Danish subtitles, we were able to follow along quite nicely. It was an amazing experience, and it was great that Trine was not only able to tell us about its existence, but was actually able to join us (and point out the Danish politicians in the crowd). Truly a fabulous end to a great couple of weeks in Denmark.
