My favourite math professor in the whole world is headed to Ecuador! Yes, Dr. O'Kennon is leaving at the end of the year/beginning of next year (she says three weeks). Very exciting!

Moi commented:
Hey Dave, MoKennon is going to S. America? I take it this is an altruistic visit and not a retreat to a hermitage in the jungle to ponder Fermi's Last Theorem?

Crap, that should have been "Fermat's Last Theorem."

Fermion's last theorem?
Yes, in fact it is a working trip - she'll apparently be doing a computer translation project from Spanish to ... I believe a native american language whose name I have forgotten (my ignorance, revealed!). In addition, the last I heard was that she would be teaching in Spanish. Since, as of six months ago she didn't speak Spanish, that could be an interesting proposition....

Fermat's Last Theorem: x^n + y^n = z^n has no integer solutions for n > 2 and x != y != z != 0

Do you feel better? *grin*
